The Law Library's Collections

Welcome to the Law Library's print collections. Most of these are located in the northern extension. A floorplan will assist you to locate them. Details of individual titles may be accessed through the Voyager Information System.

Law Reports

There are comprehensive holdings of Australian Commonwealth and State law reports, and good holdings of English and United States Law Reports and those of other Common Law countries. The law reports are arranged by jurisdiction.
A list of reports and citations held by the library is available.

Legislative materials

Holdings include bills, acts and subordinate legislation for Australian and other common law jurisdictions . These are also arranged by jurisdiction. Parliamentary Debates and Parliamentary Papers are located in the Central Library.

Periodicals

The Library holds over seven hundred current periodical titles in both print and microform. Periodicals in both formats are interfiled in one sequence and arranged by the Moys Classification Scheme. A list of citations of periodicals is available.

Books

Books are arranged in subject order by the Moys Classification Scheme for Law Books. This system is devised specifically for legal materials and allows books to be arranged in a way most appropriate to legal research. An outline of the Scheme is available.

Readings

Readings contain books or photocopies of articles which are in high demand and available for two hour loan within the Library. The Law Library's loose-leaf and thesis collections are located also at the Information Desk.

Reference Collection

This collection contains a range of tools such as legal dictionaries, encyclopaedias, case citators and digests to assist with legal research.
