Using EndNote with ProQuest

The quickest method of transferring records from ProQuest into EndNote is by using "direct export".

Proquest contains a download option that will send your search results directly to EndNote, pick the correct import option, and start the import process automatically. All you need to do is choose the EndNote library into which the data should be imported. This "direct export" or "direct download" method does away with the additional steps of saving the references to a text file, and then importing that file with the appropriate filter.

Direct export from ProQuest

First, search the database and gather records

  1. Access ProQuest database at http://www.lib.flinders.edu.au/go/pq.
  2. Conduct your search.
  3. Mark the records you require.
  4. Click on the "My Research" tab at the top of the page.
  5. Choose "Export citations" from the list.
  6. From the "Export Citations" screen, choose "Export directly to ProCite, EndNote or Reference Manager".
  7. EndNote will now open and bring up the "Select a Reference Library" dialog box.
  8. Open your EndNote library.
  9. The selected records should now appear in the library.
