The website of the agency responsible for managing the aged care accreditation process in Australia. It outlines the accreditation process, provides guidelines for the health care industry, lists recent accreditation decisions by state and answers frequently asked questions.

This Australian site "offers a rich source of independently researched articles, guides, checklists, statistics and publications including a bulletin board".
 
* Ageing and Aged Care Division of the Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing
This site contains extensive information on Community and Residential care services in Australia and their associated costs. There is also information for care consumers and providers, many fulltext documents on the Government's Healthy Ageing Australia initiative, the Aged Care Act 1997, International Year of Older Persons (IYOP) publications and The National Strategy for an Ageing Australia policy statement.
 
*Australian & New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine - ANZSGM
The ASGM is a society of medical practitioners engaged in the practice of Geriatric Medicine or related disciplines. The page includes position statements in full text covering e.g. elder abuse, nutrition, medical care for people in residential aged care services, dementia, physical restraint, etc.

The Aged Care Association Australia is a professional, national industry association for providers of quality residential and community aged care services. Includes online publications, ACAA Monthly Bulletin, media releases, online resources and links.
 
* Falls by the Elderly in Australia
A surveillance report by the AIHW on injuries due to falls in the elderly in Australia. It gives the latest available data on deaths and hospitalisations, including the number of cases, rates and trends.
 
* Health Insite: Ageing section
Australian government initiative - a gateway to age related health information with links to Department of Health and Ageing, individual topic pages, Seniors Portal homepage including full-text resources.
 
* International Research Centre for Heathy Ageing and Longevity - IRCHAL

* Multicultural Aged Care - MAC
An advocacy site containing research, support strategies and information to assist service providers to develop cultural competence and understanding. The site contains online publications 'Multicultural Aged Care Resouce Directory', 'Working cross culturally : a guide', as well as brochures and newsletters. There are information on programs, statistics as well as useful sites.
 
*National Aged Care Alliance
"A representative body of peak national organisations in aged care, including consumer groups, providers, unions, and health professionals, working together to determine a more positive future for aged care in Australia."
 
*Older Australia at a glance, 4th edn 2007
Australian Institute of Health & Welfare (AIHW) publications which look at Australian ageing demographics, the current health status of older people, their level of hospital use, the Australian Aged Care system and formal vs informal care scenarios.

A bibliographic database on social gerontology topics provides abstracts of journal articles, books, book chapters and research reports from 1978 to the present. For use by health professionals, researchers, consumers and policy makers. (American Association of Retired persons -AARP).
 
* Geriatrics Resource Guide
A resource for health professionals containing articles on topics such as physical examination and assessment, working with the patient's family, pharmacotherapy, delirium, falls, pressure sores, abuse and neglect and urinary incontinence. (Buehler Center on Aging, McGraw Medical Center). See also Bueler Center on Aging, McGraw Medical Center. Publications include the online journal, "Smart Aging Matters."
 
* Merck Manual of Geriatrics
A reputable clinical textbook covering diseases of the aged, their symptoms and diagnosis, clinical procedures and the legal, ethical and social aspects to ageing.
 
* Truth about human aging

* Centre for Ageing and Pastoral Studies - CAPS
"CAPS is a centre where scholarship in ageing and pastoral studies can be pursued. The process of ageing is examined within the context of meaning in life and wellbeing for ageing. Quality of life issues for older people, including living with dementia, are subjects for research and education."
 
* Centre for Education and Research on Ageing - CERA
Includes a section outlining the myths and facts about ageing in Australia. It also details current CERA research into health services for the aged and the the epidemiological, clinical and biologicals aspects of ageing. (University of Sydney).
 
* Centre for Mental Health Research: Ageing Research Unit
"The establishment of the Ageing Research Unit in 2004 recognised the unique international and national contribution of the Centre's work on ageing, and provides a platform for conveying research results to the public, policy makers and media." (Australian National University).
 
* Centre for Molecular Biology and Medicine

* Monash Ageing Research Centre - MonARC

* National Ageing Research Institute - NARI
Conducts research into the biological, clinical and social aspects of ageing. NARI's website details current research, provides a list of publications and contains links to the Institute's journal, Ageing well and a Falls Intervention database. * National Seniors Productive Ageing Centre - NSPAC

* GeroWeb
GeroWeb is designed as "an online resource for researchers, educators, practitioners and others interested in aging and older individuals". You can search for resources by keyword or browse subject categories. (Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University).
* Kronus Longevity Institute - KLRI
Their "mission is to perform and foster clinical translational research aimed at healthier human longevity and to communicate results to the professional and lay communitie".
