*Adelaide Aged Care Assessment Team - AACAT
The AACAT provides assessment, information and advice to older people in who are finding it difficult to manage at home. An Aged Care Assessment is required if someone is thinking of applying for community packages of care funded by the Commonwealth (e.g. Community Aged Care Packages (CACPs) or Extended Aged Care at Home Packages (EACHPs); to arrange respite care in a residential aged care facility, or to move permanently to a residential aged care facility.
 
*Carers Association of South Australia - CASA
An excellent place to find a definition of carers, key statistical and financial facts about caregiving and information about this Association's advocacy and training role.
 
*Carers Queensland
Provides carers with information and services to support them in their caring role and work to increase awareness of carers and their issues. The site contains information on events and programs and links to carer related resources.
*Carers Australia
Carers Australia works to build awareness of carers' needs and represent their interests through research, policy submissions, publications and advocacy. They identify and research emerging issues, gather data to support arguments and seek opportunities to represent carers in meetings with politicians and policy makers and committees. The site contains information and resources, news and media articles and state carers associations and respite centres.
 
*Carers Choice Program
Carers Choice is a new program developed by the Victorian State and Commonwealth Governments to benefit Carers and Care recipients. The program recognises the value of the work carried out by carers, and, aims to support people in their caring role.
 
*Carers Tasmania
The site provides links to carer policy and research, support groups, advocacy, education and training and promotion of carer issues.
 
*Commonwealth Carers Resource Centre - Victoria
The Commonwealth Carer Resource Centres form part of the Commonwealth Government's National Respite for Carers Program. The carer associations in each state and territory are running this service.

This site details Commonwealth Government programs and initiatives to support carers and provides links to other areas of Government involved in carer assistance.
 
*Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services - FACS
This site provides information on FaCS's support for carers, detailing available entitlements and services.
 
*Domiciliary Care - SA
Domiciliary Care SA provides services to people with reduced ability to care for themselves, assisting them to stay living in their own homes - close to loved ones, family and local community. The site contains links to other South Australian care related services and associations.
*Ozcarers - Australian Carer Support
A privately produced homepage designed as a directory of web information for carers. Consists of links to mostly Australian resources and Government sites and features a chatroom for the purpose of supporting, informing and advising carers.
 
*Royal District Nursing Service - RDNS
This organisation provides 24 hours-a-day nursing care to people in their homes across Australia. At their website you will find information about their services, questions & answers about home care, current relevant news articles and links to other services.
*Victorian Carer Services Network - VCSN
A network of ten services throughout Victoria, one in each Victorian health region, and two in the Barwon region. The aim of these services is to provide information, carer support and respite co-ordination for carers. These ten services together with Carer Resource Centre and Carers Victoria form the Victorian Carer Services Network.

International

*Caregiver Network Inc.
A Canadian online resource centre created to help caregivers of the elderly and ill. Provides practical legal, medical and financial information as well as tips on staying healthy and managing stress.
*Caregiver's Handbook
This handbook on caregiving issues was produced by Caregiver Education and Support Services - a branch of San Diego County Mental Health Services. It identifies common problems in caregiving, such as the need for caregiver support, and discusses some of the medical, legal, emotional and financial issues associated with long-term caregiving.
 
*Caregiving.com
An online support agency for caregivers run by Denise Brown of The Center for Family Caregivers in the US. Describes the caregiving experience as a journey of 6 set stages and suggests resources for each stage.
 
*Family Caregiver Alliance - FCA
The website of National Centre on Caregiving, US, whose goal is to support caregivers. Contains excellent specialist medical information on a wide range of conditions (eg. stroke, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimers). Also provides a clearinghouse with information on caregiving issues and specific cognitive disorders, research findings and trends and an extensive recommended reading list.
