Flinders University Library participates in University Library Australia: a national borrowing scheme for staff and students. Flinders students may borrow from all Australian University Libraries. A registration fee is charged by some universities, see the brochure for details.

Who may borrow?
All students and staff of Australian Vice-Chancellors Committee (AVCC) member universities outside South Australia. See the CAUL website for a list of institutions. Staff and students of the University of South Australia and Adelaide University should use the reciprocal borrowing scheme accessible via the library catalogue of their home institution.
How do I apply?
Applications should be made to the ID card section in the Central Library. This
section may be contacted on 8201 5903, Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm..
What documents do I need?
- Students need a photo ID and proof of current
enrolment. This could be an enrolment advice form.
- Staff need a photo ID and proof of current employment.
Any 'staff' not currently employed eg visiting scholars should contact
ID cards to clarify their situation.
Flinders University Library may, at need, seek information regarding borrowers from the library of the university at which they study or work.
Is registration permanent?
Membership will extend until the 28th of February the following year. Registration can be renewed with proof of enrolment or ongoing employment.
What does registration entitle me to?
- Borrowing privileges - Students may borrow 10 open shelves
books for 4 weeks, books may be extended once. Short loans and other
material in high demand may not be available for loan.
- Electronic resources - Where licenses permit, walk in access
is available to electronic resources.
- Other resources and services -
- photocopying and printing facilities are available.
- inter-library loan and document delivery services are not available, requests for these services should be directed to the library of the university at which you study or work.
- study facilities are available.
- reference help and other assistance from the Information Desks
- training, places may be available in the training courses run

further information.

In brief the rules provide for
- demerit points for the late return of books, sufficient points will cause a period of suspension.
- charges and suspensions for lost or damaged books. Unpaid charges will be passed on to the library at which you study or work, this library may take action to recover costs or impose penalties in line with its own rules.
- rules governing reasonable behavior to ensure that the library is an effective study environment.
